Statement from Meghan Reckling, Chair of the LCRP on the 2020 RNC Convention

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Thursday, August 27, 2020

Tonight, Meghan Reckling, Chair of the Livingston County Republican issued the following statement following the conclusion the 2020 RNC Convention:

“The RNC Convention clearly showed the stark differences between what Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and the Democrat Party believe in and what President Trump, Vice-President Pence, and the Republicans believe in.

This week’s RNC Convention displayed the diversity of the Republican Party, and those who support President Trump as American’s of different genders, nationalities, color, creed, and from various political parties voiced their unwavering support for President Trump. The Convention laid forth the priorities for the Republican Party; hope, unity, law and order, freedom, and ensuring that we continue to put America first!

The progress and accomplishments that President Trump has made over the past four years are evident. He has protected the unborn, appointed conservative judges to the judiciary, supported Israel, and has relentlessly advocated for religious freedoms. The President championed the “First Step Act” into law, giving former prisoners a better chance to start their lives over again. He supported our veterans by reforming the VA, helped those with terminal illnesses by signing “The Right to Try Act,” reduced the cost of prescription drugs, and helped turn the corner on the opioid epidemic. The Trump Administration funded Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) at historical levels and ensured their funding for years to come. He also fiercely defended and supported American workers, our military, and our law enforcement officers.

Beyond all of that, the President’s economic policies led to record unemployment before COVID-19. President Trump’s economic policies are so robust that a once-in-a-century pandemic only caused a blip in our nation’s economy, as jobs are already returning, and the stock market has returned to near record-high numbers. Even during the pandemic, he distributed 70 million food boxes, through a groundbreaking program called “Famers to Families.”

The 2020 RNC Convention showed that the Republican Party welcomes all ideas and all people. It proved that Republicans have won the argument on areas like health care, criminal justice reform, minority unemployment, and foreign policy.

You can disagree with the President’s tone, but it is hard to disagree with his results. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris want a cultural revolution – they want a fundamentally different America.

The Republican Party is the party of freedom, and President Trump is going to double-down on ensuring the American Dream for ALL people. President Donald Trump has always put America first. He has put our families, our jobs, our freedoms, and our country first. He has earned four more years as President.”
