Livingston County Republicans encourage public to submit maps for County Commission redistricting

The Livingston County Apportionment Commission unanimously voted to accept up to two maps from members of the public, and the Livingston County Republican Party is encouraging individuals to draw and submit their own map for consideration.

“This is a first-of-its-kind opportunity for residents of Livingston County to participate in the local redistricting process,” said Meghan Reckling, Chair of the Livingston County Republican Party. “I hope that every resident of Livingston County participates in the local redistricting process, whether that be through submitting a map they drew or providing public comments online or in-person during our meetings.”

Residents are encouraged to use www.davesredistricting.orgto draw maps containing nine county commission districts they wish to have considered. A step-by-step guide from davesredistricting.org to using the mapping software can be found by visiting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGu8jiFItnA.

Residents must submit seven (7) printed copies of their map along with seven (7) copies of a general description of the proposed districts to the Livingston County Clerk’s Election Division no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, September 20th.Any plan(s) submitted must meet the legal standards outlined in MCL 46.404.

The next meeting of the County Apportionment Commission is set for Monday, September 27th at 9:00 am in the Board Chambers located on the 2nd Floor of the County Administration Building (304 E.
