About the Policy: Fowlerville’s school board is voting this week to approve only American flag, government and military flags, or other educational institutions to be displayed at the schools. Our children don’t need the distraction of BLM flags, TRUMP flags, BIDEN flags, PRIDE flags, Christian flags, or any other political or ideological flags & displays posted at school!
Email Fowlerville’s school board/superintendent and respectfully demand they vote YES on proposed policy #8805. POLICY - VOL. 37, NO. 1 8805 - FLAGS AND DISPLAYS This policy is adopted by the Board of Education as a content-neutral policy with respect to the appropriate usage and display of items in District buildings and on/in District property, including flags, banners, posters, electronic insignia, and similar items (collectively "Displays"). In addition to the use of the American flag as addressed in Policy 8800, the only Displays that may be flown, posted, or affixed to the grounds, stadiums, fencing, walls, doors, ceilings, or any other furnishings or appurtenances of any public school system building, vehicle, or facility owned or operated by the Board or posted on any electronic messaging, including emails, on the District's network, are as follows:
• The current Michigan flag.
• The current school flag.
• Displays used in the classroom as a part of a temporary unit of study within the approved curriculum.
• Michigan High School Athletic Association or other similar sport tournaments. Displays recognizing the participation of or accomplishment of a school team and/or athlete.
• Displays from of colleges, universities or military that promote future learning.
