WAYS WE CAN SUPPORT OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN
As American’s it is not necessary to elaborate on the sacrifice our Service Men and Women and their families make to keep us free. We can give back to them all year and especially during the holiday season.
The military has discontinued the ‘Any Soldier’ program based on the resources to open and inspect each package. All programs require a name and full address. Some will take those addressed to ‘the commander’ with the unit address. You will need to review each programs requirement.
The Livingston County Republican Women's Club will be taking items and donations to purchase needed items and/or phone cards to include in boxes to be sent. The local VFW will mail these boxes to Livingston County Service MEN AND WOMEN. The VFW will also pay the postage fee. For a list of suggested items along with those item NOT TO BE SENT go to: www.adoptaplatoon.org/ and click on Care Package Ideas on the left side.
In addition to the care packages, we will be setting up locations to write cards and letters to service men and women.

Subject: Thanks!!!
Monday, my son Derek called from Japan and told us he received a very large box in the mail. When he opened it, there was 24 one pound bags of Dunkin Donuts coffee inside and a nice note to him and his unit. I told Derek to hang onto the bags of coffee and hand them out as needed. He is planning on sharing half of them with the other unit on his base. Had you not told me about this drawing, Derek and his unit would be still drinking coffee that tastes like "sucking dirt through a dirty sock" (his description). At our next LCGOP meeting I would like to tell everyone of Derek's good news and remind them of the drawing. Hey, anything to put a smile on our Armed Forces faces is well worth it to me!
Thanks again and have a very happy and prosperous New Year!!!
